The purest form of holo comes in powder.

I had been avoiding this trend for the simple fact that I don’t like glitter herpes.

And I knew the moment I opened that jar, all the powder would fly off into my face.

But, I decided to give it a try and actually buy one small jar.

I waited a long time because it came all the way from China and didn’t have prime,

and by the time it got to me, so many options had popped up on Amazon WITH prime.

Back to the story. I opened that thing and lucky for me, it wasn’t as bad. I proceeded to apply it to a gel based nail polish (I used Sally Hansen)

and all of a sudden I saw the light, and everything was holy.

So worth it.

Natural french tips

Very rarely am I excited to brag about having done french tips on my nails, but I’m happy on several things in this photo.

  1. The tips are all the same size
  2. The nails therefore have the same growth
  3. They’re all natural
  4. There is no overflow of white polish on the tips
  5. the nail bed looks “mostly” uniform
  6. The tips were done free-hand with my left hand. (This is my right hand)
  7. The nail shapes in general.

Reminds me of the Backstreet Boys…

Back when I was a teen… oh man, didn’t think I’d start it this way!… ahem /*cough*/.

Back when I was a teen, there was a huge boy band called “The Backstreet Boys”.

And they were all over the place. They were extremely popular and there was sort of a fan rivalry between them and “N’SYNC”. (Yeah, I remembered the apostrophe haha)

Well, these Backstreet Boys, had an album called “Black and Blue” from which came the popular songs “The Call” and “Shape of my Heart” (aaww, nostalgia!). This was the cover:

And today, trying out these black studs over my nails reminded me so much of that album, and that boy band that used to be so successful back in the 90’s – 2000s. So… I guess, I give you:

All about the flakies

I was literally taking a shower when I stared off into my shower curtain. It has this sort of curly thing on one side and even though I have no idea what it’s called, I remembered that I had it on one of my nail stamping plates, so why not try to put it on my nails!?

After deciding I’d use this design, I remembered sponging on flakies and I wondered if it would look nice as a background for the black stamps. I ended up using Revlon’s Transforming Effects, Cosmic Flakies 725 but the sad part is the flakie to polish ratio is way off and there is more polish than flakies making it harder to sponge on. But if you’re persistent….! It does work very nicely and the end result looks gorgeous.

On another note, I tried making these Gifs with the new iOS app by Google: Motion Stills which takes live photos and makes them gifs or videos to share. If you want to try it, click the link to download it, it’s free.
